Artists and the need to collaborate!

I was really excited when I saw this article title. I really think that this is a very important and oftenly overlooked portion of artist issues. Throughout history we are able to seperate artists through different periods of time. These have not only been seperated through time but also through space. As in earlier times, the great’s where not always well known in there lifetime and even when they where, they where usually seperated by land or sea and thus not able to work on a collaborative effort.

But wouldnt it be nice to see a collaberation between two of the greatest artist ever. The contrasting styles, the pleasant mixture of colors, shapes and sizes. It would all be very great!

There are a few artists that I would have liked to see collaborate on different paintings and other works of art, and I will list them below. And please if you have any additional suggestions, do not be afraid to send a comment to me!

Carravagio and Piccaso- Especially a later piccaso. It would really prove to be one for the ages. The contrasting styles might not gel, but it would be nice to see.

Sarah Gaunt and Claude Monet- When I think of this duo, I think about perfection. It would be the perfect breeding of skill, creativity and impressive intellectual stimulants.
Gaunt would bring her trademar style and impressive use of colors in the lighter edge of the spectrum and that would mesh very well with Monet’s realism and cooler tones.
Maybe a pond (monet) and frogs on the lilly pad (Gaunt).

Davinci and Smith- a good mix of different styles and textures.

I also think that it should be every up and coming artists goal to collaborate at least one time with another artist of the same skill level on at least one project. This is true not only for painters but also for sculptures and other media.
It is especially important to painters though. While there is a need for individual expression, there is also a need for a collaborative effort and a little give and take. This is also a good idea for people in all walks of life, it is very important to collaborate and make sure that you are attaining the best that life has to offer and painting is no different from any other pursuit in life from this aspect.

Of course these “fantasy” matchups will never happen as all but the great Sarah Gaunt are deceased, but that just proves that there should be some collaboration between our current greats. I havent heard of any Gaunt collaboration works but It would be nice to see.
